Windows 10 Release

Microsoft announced the release date of Windows 10 for July 29, 2015. The great news is Microsoft is offering a free upgrade for Windows 7, and Windows 8/8.1 devices for a limited time. Another big announcement is Windows 10 will include a new and improved version of the beloved Start Menu (from Window XP through Windows 7). The new start menu will incorporate live tiles, but will look and feel like that old traditional start menu we are all so familiar with.

Windows 10 ReleaseWhile working in the field over the past two years, by far the biggest complaint about Windows 8/8.1 has been the new start screen. Fundamentally, the new start screen accomplishes the same tasks as the old start menu, but most users truly dislike it. I think the main reason is that it is more geared toward touch devices, and most people who use Windows are still using desktops and laptops.

Windows 10 includes several new and innovative features which I believe most people will find very useful. The new web browser is called Microsoft Edge. It allows you to write notes directly on webpages and share them with your friends. The new browser also allows you to save your place to continue reading later. Windows 10 allows you to snap up to 4 windows on a single screen, and even allows you to have multiple desktops.

Cortana, is your new personal assistant who can help you with all your daily tasks. I have been using Cortana on my Windows 8.1 phone for about a year now, and it’s something you will wonder how you ever lived without! Cortana can remind you of your appointments and various tasks throughout the day as well as help with directions, flights, the weather, and much more.
